Liber Vivus Lore According to legend, the first Liber Vivus came from the ruinous Hewn City. Several brave dragons, whose names have been lost to all but the Liber Vivus themselves, had gone to explore the city, seeking new knowledge. In a ruined library, these dragons found many books in an unknown language. This excited the dragons and blinded them to the obvious magical qualities of the books. Eager to discover, they cast spells on the books, attempting to translate them into a more familiar language. The magic within the books reacted to the new spells, and a sentience awoke. The books began to transform, the pages with their strange writing formed into the shape of a dragon, while the decorations and illustrations, glimmering with magic, formed into the underbelly. The first moments of these new creatures has been lost to history, and the Liber Vivus have never felt the need to reveal any more details of how they came to be. This species is well known for their vast knowledge, and they love learning and studying. They are not always willing to share their knowledge (and often only answer questions obscurely or in riddles) or their hordes of books, but they are invaluable resources within their clans. They have been reluctant to reveal the secrets they contained as books, and the writing is no longer distinguishable, except when they use magic, then the words sometimes become clear, although the language is still a mystery. The desire for knowledge has led to the spread of the species; originally only found within the Hewn City, they can now be found all across the world. |

Necronomicon is a very very dark book. This book's knowledge should never be known by dragonkind, which is why Necronomicon refuses to say anything about it, other than that it's about unfathomable darkness and Ancient Gods slubbering deep in the ocean. This gives Necronomicon dark magical powers and a monstruous appearance. Necronomicon himself is very reserved and intelligent. His frequent ominous muttering scares most dragons off. He's often seen in Athena's library, since he really enjoys books and new knowledge. He values intelligence and knowledge in cryptozoologie and the mystical, which is why he's drawn to xxxHolic. |
