the stars are so bright, he thinks. always, always so bright. he cranes his neck towards the sky once again and watches in awe as the pinpoints of light above wink and shine, each flicker of light drawing another small smile out of him.

the stars are always so beautiful, he thinks. his blood murmurs in agreement. it was the stars, after all, that had brought him to life—not just his mind, dull as it had been, but his flesh, his blood, his bones—everything hums and sings and he can feel every part of himself strung together the way stars and their light are woven.

he knows the world loves him, and he loves it back.

with every fiber of his shattered, scattered being.
