Biography
SYLDRA - Ichthyologist
Syldra has taken a quite peaceful path when compared to her warlord sister. Instead of seeking out battle, she's sought out fish all over the world and made them the focus of her studies. It's the Sunbeam Ruins in her blood, she supposes, that makes her so fond of research. Or maybe that's just who she is. But regardless, ichthyology is everything to her, and she takes it very seriously.
At the moment, her labs are quite small and her funding quite slim. She doesn't have the pull that more established members of her field do, and it's rare that she undertakes any solo research. Instead, she often finds herself traveling in order to cooperate with other ichthyologists in remote locations. She doesn't necessarily mind that, since she's made some excellent friends in the process, but it's her lifelong dream to conduct a lab all on her own, to be the one doing the hiring instead of being hired. When she isn't on a field assignment or eyeball deep in hired research, she spends all her waking moments on her own work, desperate to find a breakthrough.
Her latest hunch, in the hopes that she'll discover something never seen before, is focused on subterranean fish and their bioluminescent properties. They share great similarities with the strange new eyes that have been appearing across Sornieth, and she's wondering if there might be some connection.
Bio by Tues.
A pelagic species, these dragons go wherever the currents take them, living on a combo of rafts made of woven together kelp mats, and just floating on their own. Most have poisonous spines, which they use to catch food as they drift.
Due to their wandering ways, they occasionally pick up treasures that they trade with land-bound dragons. This can be hard, as many of the clans get 'land sick' and have a hard time when not on the sea. This is where the spine-less dragons come in. As these dragons cannot catch food for the clan, they're often sent to live on land for at least part of the year, so that they don't have 'land sickness' as they grow older, and can act as ambassadors/traders/merchants for the clan. |
