Biography

11296.png10211.png15590.png

A nocturne and a skydancer had made a clutch of eggs, one egg being slightly smaller in size. When it had finally hatched, a bright eyed nocturne fumbled out of the shell and made no noise. The young dragon just cleaned her face and wagged it's tail excitedly and clumsily. She began chasing the other dragons from the clutch in a playful manner. The other hatchlings saw no wrong in the mute, but her parents did not approve.
"A voiceless nocturne? How repulsive." Her mother, a nocturne, muttered to herself. The only thing a nocturne should grow up to be is sly and a master of mimicry. Her mother wanted nothing to do with the voiceless nocturne and left to serve her deity.
Her father at least gave her a name, "Mirda. The name of an old friend of mine." He smiled softly and raised the nocturne girl alone. As days passed, he grew a little bitter however. The small nocturne grew larger, and it only reminded him of how one of his clan mates left because of her. Mirda noticed this, and opted to leave in the middle of a night.
She lived on her own for quite some time. She was fine alone; happy is what she told herself. She was going through the Trading Post one day, when an old pearlcatcher was trying to sell painting on stretched parchment. Mirda adored the alluring colours and scenes the pearlcatcher had shown in her paintings and started studying under the elder pearlcatcher. Mirda learned to stretch her own parchment and make her own coloured paints. Mirda had also learned to smile, a thing she had not done in a long time.
She painted whatever came to mind; she painted scenes from her memories, old faces, sometimes it was just smatterings of colour here and there. She started selling her pieces alongside the pearlcatcher. However, when her pieces her selling more than the elder's, Mirda was pushed away again.
She nestled among a colony of faes eventually. Faes were just as voiceless as Mirda was, and she learned their language. Faes speak by moving their facial fins, Mirda started speaking through her wings. Mirda became a guardian to these faes eventually. But, just as every chapter in her life ended, she was pushed out for some reason or another.
Mirda keeps to herself now, afraid to make any friends or even find a life long mate. She continues to paint, making her own colours and painting on her stretched parchment. Mirda began painting on slabs, stones, wood and whatever else clients decide to bring her. She still has no voice though, only speaking through her subtle body movements and her well-versed fae wing language.
The young nocturne often relives through her short life in paintings. She gets lost in thoughts of friends that accept her for her oddities. Eventually, she wants to settle down, hopefully find a mate. However, it is a dream she hopes to fulfill soon enough. She feels as if her heart has been broken enough times for a few lifetimes.
