Prion is a Skydancer from the Tangled Wood. Like most of his family, he was sold to a clan in the Windswept Plateau and set for exaltation to the Windsinger. Determined to find his own path besides being exalted to serve a deity he did not love, Prion set out to find a new home. While his heart still lied in the land of Shadow, he knew history would repeat itself should he return home. Instead, he travelled east to the Ashfall Waste and found a new clan to call his home.

He began to work and train with Pannus, the former leader of Clan Aves. Even after the Pearlcatcher's defeat, Prion continued to fight for the clan for time to come. Soon after Syrinx's miraculous birth, Prion was set to be among the dragons to teach him to fight. In one of their battles in the mire, Prion was badly wounded after a careless mistake. Even after Vincristine helped him heal most of his wounds, Prion realized he would never be strong enough to properly defend the clan.

Rather than call it all quits, Prion decided to use his talents to help with the clan's stringent dominance and exaltation program. Before dragons are sent to train out in the world with Gyri and Melanoma, they are taught techniques and skills that only Prion can tell them about. After each dragon is properly trained, Prion assists each in their exaltation to serve the Flamecaller.
