His eyes hold a secret. He may seem blithe, charming, blissfully ignorant, even. But when in conversation, his gaze drifts, following something that is invisible to the eyes of most of dragonkind. He rarely speaks of what he sees, admitting the truth only when coaxed, but with gentle persuasion he can be convinced to say: He doesn't know if he sees only the remnants of the past, echoes of actions already completed and lived already led, or if he truly sees the dead.

They speak to him sometimes, but only in riddles and half-truths. They are too insubstantial to tell him where they come from, or what they are. But he listens. He gathers their secrets.

Someday, they will tell him something truly worth knowing.
