Compared to someone such as Luxe, Atlas isn't considered to be much of a winner. Since birth, Atlas was branded with retinoblastoma in both of his eyes. He figures it was some sort of genetics thing though he could never sort it out properly. It is a rare form of cancer that develops rapidly from immature retina cells, mostly found in young children. Although he was strong in will, he lost the vision in both of his eyes, going so far to have to have one of them removed by enucleation.

The process terrified him, leaving him with scarred memories of his childhood that he forced himself to forget. He doesn't remember a lot about his time before entering the Order and it doesn't bother him either. He has a feeling that it wasn't too important to know and thus moved on with his life.

Within the borders of the Order, he was trialed in each of the sections, trying to determine which one he would work best in though little results were made.

The first tested was the Guild, which was immediately ruled out after an unfortunate mishap which landed him in the hospital for a solid week. He didn't have a strength in battle and forcing it. well, it wouldn't help anyone. The next was the Advisory. He lasted a while there though he wasn't confident enough to make orders for the topics that were being discussed. As much as he liked the people there, he found that it wasn't his area of interest.

Leaving him with only two more options, he was trialed at the Sanctum. As peaceful and serene as it made him feel, he didn't desire a world without anything materialistic or the communication of others. Besides, not many ran the Sanctum as it's a rather exclusive band. It was more just a place to visit than anything. His last option was the court. To judge the fate of those who have done crimes before in the past or now. The topics interested him enough and he found himself staying for longer than he had in the other sections. He was welcome with open arms after a week of being tested there.

Seeing this as a good opportunity for himself, he joined alongside them. He stands in as a symbol to them and the fact that he can't see anything aids him well. He doesn't judge anyone by appearance, simply by their actions. Some would argue that the fact makes him the best one to be on the Court.

It was by pure coincidence that he encountered Aveira not long after, a guard posted in the Guild to look after Sylas who he knew to be a well respected Adviser. She had been tasked that day with overseeing a meeting of the courts with someone invested with Sylas, just in case she had told him.

Atlas found himself intrigued with him, her voice enticing him even further to know her more. Though he knew it was a far shot of even trying, he felt as if he was supposed to. Knowing she was talented in fighting, he asked her to guide him through learning. He wanted to be more useful to the people around him even if he stayed into the Court, more importantly, he wanted to protect himself. And her.

They spent long nights of training together, she didn't treat him any differently than if he really could see and he appreciated that. Surprisingly enough, he picked up a thing or two that would be useful, having a small talent for fighting if he knew about his target. Even if he wasn't confident enough in his inexperienced learning enough to actually fight someone. It wasn't long after that she swore herself to act as his guard. Even though her main charge still remained to be Sylas, she was just as infatuated with him as he was of her. It was also a way to keep an eye on him just in case as well as know him more.

He accepted her offer, rather pleased with his display of courage in speaking to her in the first place. Now they continue on together, learning new views on the world from each other that they could have only dreamt of taking on previously.
