POTIKI
Alchemist It's kind of fun to do the impossible. 
Potiki is the youngest of Majesty's sons. His childhood was comfortable, if not luxurious. He did, however, witness the abuse his older brother suffered from their mother and did his best to protect him from it during Majesty's depression. As a hatchling, while Mana ran around proclaiming their brother was the most magnificent thing on four legs, Potiki did his best to keep Ariki's spirits high. The two would go on day trips soaring around the Starfall Isles, sometimes spending a few days away from home, camping deep inside the Starwood Strand or along the craggy slopes of the Focal Point. When he wasn't cheering Ariki up, Potiki was messing around with magic. He never really had the knack for casting powerful spells or using magic in creative ways; rather, he was very skilled at creating new kinds of magically enhanced items. He scavenged the clan's alchemical cauldron when he was barely three months old, and before anyone could stop him he was off and running. A workshop built itself around him, rather than the other way around. While many of the clan's members saw his activities as a child's pastime, he quickly became an invaluable resource, creating everything from food to clothing to magical weapons. Though he usually can't see past his soot-covered goggles, the one time he decided to look up he saw Ersa, a glittering diamond of a Skydancer. He never even talked to her, but he fell instantly in love. Not really knowing what to do, he began to make her gifts. He first made her a lump of sentient goo as a companion. She seemed to quite enjoy the gurgling thing, at least before it rolled off into the woods one night. He then sent her a pair of goggles (to protect her eyes while she was off fighting for the clan, he wrote in the attached note). This prompted her to stop by and say thank you, which turned into him giving Ersa three-hour tour of the workshop with a few awkward compliments thrown in. By the time he was halfway through making her a neon green set of armor, she had decided that this strange little Fae might not be so bad after all. The two quite enjoy each other's company, and they find new ways to make each other laugh every day. Potiki is a genious when it comes to science. He can pull miracles out of thin air, and is the most clever problem solver of the entire clan. His downfall is his almost complete idiocy in social situations. He can talk about anything pertaning to his workshop without a problem, but venture into anything beyond that and he is completely out of his element. He starts to stutter when he gets uncomfortable, which some dragons in the clan use to their advantage. He can be very easily manipulated and lied to, and doesn't understand social cues at all. He means well, but he can be overbearing and blunt. |
