HE COMETH bearing the livery of God-fearing man, bearing the ragged robes of piety. He reeks of holy incense splashed in sacrament upon his frame. He walks with a gnarled and broken stave, and his vestures are garnished with curios and baubles from foreign, unfamiliar lands, belonging to races and tribal nations both living and long since lost. He is ageless, neither young nor old, with the hard lines drawn in his robust face ineffably eternal. His hair is long and matted, and retains a long bushy beard unkempt and scented with oils. He smiles, and when smiling he speaks in a dulcifying, cabalistic voice, purring in approbation of God and His children.BUT BENEATH the veneer of a pious man, there is a staggering horror. The gaudy scents of sanctification mask a pervasive animal musk, as if to hide some veiled savagery beneath the folds of his frayed robes. Despite his propensity for his contorted stave he has no need of it, his gait like that of some hellacious ghoul beset upon the prowl. His eyes like fire-lights are manic and depraved, staring luridly through bustling crowds as if to pick virginal, fresh prey within them. His nose is long and aquiline, with nostrils balefully flared. Within him is a soul so thoroughly blackened with sin that it seems to have been plucked straight from hell, burned eternal for inimical crimes, leaving in its violent wake only charcoal soot.
