Biography
Pluto
ploo-toh Nurturing | Healer of the Toxic Wastes | Mage
Backstory Pluto was the fourth in a nest of five, and the smallest one of her clutch. In her first few days outside of her egg, her life hung in the balance as her parents wondered if she would be too small and frail to survive. In was her mother, Rain, who doted on her and did her best to see her tiniest child survive. As Pluto grew and her powers began to manifest, she would adopt her mother's nurturing ways as a way of life. As the five siblings explored their home, led by protective brother Alec, they each uncoveredthe things they could do. Vertigo and Monster fought by Alec's sidewith their newfound abilities as Ghost trailed behind, far enough to go unnoticed but close enough to stay in Alec's shadow. Pluto, meanwhile, would heal her siblings' wounds after every adventure and brawl. When Alec fought for his family, she was there to mend his scars. When Ghost or Monster were picked on by bullies for their oddities, Pluto was the one to comfort and cure them afterwards. When the time came for the siblings to find themselves new homes, Pluto was more than ready. A childhood of nurturing those around her had prepared her for what she thought would be a happy life full of helping others and raising children of her own. Assured that her now-adult siblings could take care of themselves, she left for new shores, promising to stay in touch. It was another Imperial who caused her to settle down - a massive fellow by the name of Mars. His charm and kindness attracted Pluto immediately, and before she knew it, she had a new clan and a nest full of eggs. As she regaled Mars with tales of her childhood, they both hoped their young ones would have as strong a bond as Pluto did with her own siblings. She sent letters to each of them and anxiously awaited the day she would be a mother. Tragedy befell the new family when only one of the eggs hatched; the hatchling within was small and frail, barely fit for the world around him. Pluto was determined to move past her grief and nurture him as her mother had nurtured her... but her clan had other plans. Pluto was so wrapped up in her love of Mars that she never quite learned of her clan's policies and laws until it was too late. When her son was just barely healthy enough to function on his own, he was taken away by the leaders, sent away in exchange for coin. Mars' dejected acceptance of the situation made it all the more bitter. Pluto tucked herself away into her lair and wept. Months passed quickly as Pluto fell into a cycle of tending to warriors and avoiding Mars as often as she could. Something in her begged her to leave, but still she clung to her relationship - and all that she had lost. She stopped writing letters to her siblings and fell away from the outside world, focused solely on her work as a healer and nothing more. Eventually Mars stopped trying to talk to her. Others noticed how dreary she had become, but said nothing. Life became monotonous. Then something new happened - a letter arrived, delivered by a vivid red Wildclaw who hailed from a clan known as the Toxic Wastes. The letter, addressed to Pluto, was from none other than her protective brother Alec. He was now a high-ranking warrior in his clan, and lived a happy life. And he was not alone, for Ghost had joined him, and they lived and adventured together as they had when they were young. Seeing her brother's blocky handwriting and knowing he was with one of their other siblings filled Pluto with a new resolve. No longer would she hold onto what she had lost; rather, she would go and be found again by her brothers, and whatever life they lived, she would live it with them. To the Toxic Wastes she went, Alec's letter clutched in her claws. The reunion filled her with a sort of happiness she hadn't felt in ages. Oblivious to King Andiron's fears regarding Emperors, Pluto was accepted into the clan quickly once Alec explained who she was. Right away she went about setting up shop as a mage and healer, making herself as useful as she could to what she hoped would be her final clan. Slowly but steadily, Pluto has rebuilt herself into the happy dragon she was before. Surrounded by family - including half-siblings Shirin and Kalí - and greatly appreciated by the Toxic Wastes, Pluto has found herself enjoying her life more than ever. Sometimes she thinks she might be ready to have children again... but the right dragon has yet to come along. Now if only Samar would stop seeing her as some sort of competition... |
