Even among Envy’s legitimate heirs, Soren is… well, he’s rather far down the line to inheriting the throne. Everyone knows that Soren is pretty much just a backup. A spare, just in case his siblings never come home. Soren feels no resentment for this—it's a long-accepted fact of his life.

Envy’s stern efficiency and high standards have rubbed off on her son, though he is more relaxed than his mother. Soren is under significant pressure to act properly all the time, so he doesn’t really smile that often, especially in front of others. He greatly prefers to be alone, so that he can be whatever he wants to be. Soren loves his family, and they are perhaps the only people who really know what he’s like. Under that formal exterior, Soren is awkward, shy, easily intimidated, and usually quite gentle. He does not always find his mother or biological father easy to interact with, but he knows that his family loves him.

As the oldest royal heir in the kingdom, Soren has taken on somewhat of a guiding and guardian role for his younger relatives. Outside of his formal duties and the time that he spends with his family, Soren prefers to study, and can often be found in the royal library.
