The Ghost Captain
Have y' not heard that might makes right? A shooting star... Kellintaal saw a streak of magenta cross the sky as she turned toward Cindercone Clan, and wisely turned back. She will not lead her crew into Arcane-tainted waters, not without many wards. She will wait for this crisis to abate. * Word from Akantha suggests the crisis is over. Kellintaal has turned sail back for Cindercone Clan and the harbor on the blacksand shore. |

Kellintaal is a raucous marauder, with no compunctions about harming others to advance her own benefit. She sails about in a strange ship, raiding dragons and beastclans all along the coasts and trading with other clans according to her whim. Even to her oakwn crew she can be something of a bully, and meanspirited pranks are common aboard her ship. As the ghost captain is reluctant to set foot on land and refuses entrance to those who will not sign on with her, most in Cindercone Clan know her only as a rumor. Despite her somewhat unpleasant manner, Kellintaal has the dedicated loyalty of her crew of miscreants. Dogfish is almost reverent toward her, while Frostnight, Sundowner, and Flux take a more level-headed view of their strange captain and her abilities, while Haolurren views her more as an accessory to the ship, helpful to his own aims. Physical description Kellintaal is a large and somewhat rangy wildclaw. Her wings have an oddly stretched appearance, and the edges of her crest, wings, and bellyfeathers take on an unnerving translucence in certain lighting. She smells strongly of driftwood and salt with a trace of steel. While an able flier and swimmer, Kellintaal lacks endurance in walking or running due to her injuries, which a cycle later still have not healed properly. Kellintaal frequently suffers from a degree of malnutrition, due to attempting to subsist off swordfish and other meaty fish when raids fail to turn up enough actual meat, leaving her with somewhat patchy feathers and claws that are slow to recover from breakage. Combat Kellintaal is fast and vicious, striking hard and then fading away. She does not have the endurance for protracted conflict, and will flee if a fight lasts too long. She is the strongest member of her crew, and generally fights alone. |

Origin Kellintaal remembers little of her life before. She passed back from Exaltation to Stormcatcher when Shadow claimed an extra day in the cycle. She spent some time wandering as part of the pack of mixed steelhounds and scrapmetal trackers seeking to send her back to Stormcatcher, but during the Trickmurk Circus she regained lucidity, and when the resetting of the clan's allegiances threw her forward through time, she broke free of them entirely. Since then, Kellintaal has kept mainly to the sea, gathering a crew of fellow miscreants together to support her plundering. |
