A shooting star...

Haolurren is on edge. What is the Arcanist planning? Are there meteors falling across Sornieth? Some of the thoughts of Water dragons, beastfolk, and fellow ships suggest it. He is urging a docking at a different port, one with more crossroads and news than Cindercone's beach.

Haolurren has set out—at a steady polar bear swim—for port in the Southern Icefield to learn more. If the pirates will not take him there, he will take himself.

Haolurren has rejoined the crew with news. The Arcanist's little troublemakers are back—though he hasn't been more specific than that—but why they've waged war on Cindercone Clan he doesn't know. They will be finding out come Greenskeeper Gathering, when the aether will be at their weakest.

Haolurren Seeker is a dragon with a deferred mission. Having heard report of an escapee from the Fortress of Ends, he tracked her to the Rogue's Camp, only to find her vanished.

Now he serves as a member of Kellintaal's pirate crew, using their travels to search for his quarry and directing them to attack Ice's enemies. A natural-born warden may seem an odd partner for a band of malcontent rabblerousers, but Haolurren is flexible. The pirates' depredations do not concern him unless they prey on Icewarden's interests—and even a few of those might prove to make his people the stronger. Regardless, his presence to turn them aside from Ice-bound merchants is a net positive, and he appreciates the chance to rob the rivals of his native land.

Due to his intense affect, most people find Haolurren somewhat unnerving, but he is generally well-liked by those who get to know him better. His professional demeanor hides a wicked sense of humor (most visible in his custom-made sweater), and to those whom he knows best, a defensive kindness. He is particularly close with Flux, and is eager to show her the ways of their kind.

Physical description
Haolurren is fairly average in overall size for a gaoler, but his winglets are proportionately small. His fur is coarse and imbued with ice that gives it a hard, glittering affect. It is an effective armor against lighter attacks, and even mighty opponents find him unnaturally hard to down. Due to the weight of his armored pelt, Haolurren is fairly heavy for his size. He smells mostly of cold overlaid with leather oil and salt. He has an easy, fluid walk and is an excellent diver now that he has mastered the odd buoyancy effects of his fur.

Having lived as a tundra for several seasons, Haolurren retains certain tundra-like affects in his gestures and movements. He is also more scent-driven than most gaolers.

Combat
Haolurren prefers to rely on his powerful magical skills, backed by his ability to magically heal when facing more than one opponent. His incredible endurance often leaves him the last on the field, and he has the natural gaoler aptitude for imprisoning the unjust in chains of ice. His magic is also useful in other ways in raids—weighting down ships and providing a direct, if unorthodox, path to boarding.

If battle magic is not in play, Haolurren remains a formidable, if more physical opponent. He is adept at fighting tooth-to-claw, and his time in tundra form gave him great insight into taking down larger opponents on the rare occasions that they show up.

Origin
Haolurren is a Gaoler of the Seeker clan. Cycles ago, he went undercover as a tundra to recapture an escaped convict from the Fortress of Ends. While he successfully completed his mission, to his recollection, something went wrong when it came time to extract him. His memory faded, he wandered for a long time, collecting bounties posted by clans for more common criminals.

When the gaolers sent their envoys to modern civilization, their scents broke through into forgotten memories. Haolurren returned to his old form, but before he could return to the Seeker clan, he found the trail of the mysterious escapee Listeria and set off after her. If Icewarden wishes to speak with him before he has recaptured her, he will do so.

Kin
If Haolurren has any kin, beyond the Seeker Clan as a whole, he does not speak of them. Of the Seeker Clan, he refuses mentioning anything in depth, but remarks that they are some of the most dedicated and fun-loving in turn of his ilk.

Familiar

The dodo is Haolurren's stalwart, if unlikely, companion. Equally as tough as his draconic companion, the dodo is a capable tracker, and shockingly adept at physical combat. How they came to travel together is something Haolurren is yet to remember, and the dodo does not seem to understand, but they are partners now.
