She's a pearl hunter; the woman is obsessed with her own damaged pearl (only damaged to her, in reality its flawless) and so seeks out and destroys other's pearls in a fit of envy. Seeing a flawless pearl feels like a searing hot metal stabbing into her brain; its almost an impulse to take and destroy another's pearl in any way she can.
