The original clan leader, Barak's appearance is far more cruel than he could ever be. Hardened by life in the Shifting Expanse, and changed by the battle that resulted in Pakhet's capture, he chose to abandon life under the Stormcatcher, and instead pursue a more peaceful existence within the Lightweaver's domain. He passes his time now as an advisor to the clan, especially with regards to rationing and preventive approaches, having dealt with the bleak offerings of the desert.

Having lost or been separated from most of his hatchlings, Barak often carries a profound sense of guilt, and readily takes young dragons of the clan under his wing. He is a natural paternal figure, and often spends his free time with the younger members of the clan, hoping to make amends with the time he lost with his blood hatchlings.
