Biography

tumblr_inline_mzxpsh9lZN1st17vy.gif Geier
Occupation: Seer
Allegiance: Plague
Mate: None

Ever since Geier was a hatchling, he’s had a knack for knowing things he shouldn’t, hearing things others can’t, and always being right about his gut instincts. Dreams haunted him, premonitions of things to come, varying from the most minor of activities to the most devastating of events, from births to deaths to the number of coins in a pouch to the type of food the clan’s gatherers would return with. It never really bothered him--having been born with the gift, he wasn’t aware that this wasn’t normal--but it seemed to rub his clanmates in the wrong way.

Some were jealous. Some were unnerved. At the very least, his mother understood; being the seer of his birthclan, she knew the signs of the Second Sight and was more than happy to teach him how to utilize his abilities.

As he aged and his powers began to settle, he found that he had a harder and harder time picking up on things on the fly. While the dreams still came, they were less frequent and far more vague, and the voices he once heard on the wind were but whispers compared to the roars he grew up with. Though he feared that he was losing his touch, a gift he so desperately clung to as a youth, his mother instructed him on the use of mediums, of objects and articles to help keep his connection. An older, less opened mind was less receptive than that of a young hatchling who hadn’t yet learned to filter or control what they experienced, what they saw and heard.

It took months for him to find his focus, his pathway to still communicating to the fates. It happened quite by accident during a funeral pyre, words being spelled out in the dust and charred bones of a fallen clanmate, a message from a dragon long gone...

Though Geier is a dark and foreboding looking dragon, a reputation that is enhanced by his quietness, he is no more grim than any other and is instead quite the curious, studious Guardian. He enjoys the written word, deciphering codes, chats with the fates and the deceased, and simply listening for hints of what is to come on the soft, mellow voice of the wind. While younger dragons avoid him due to clan-wide urban legends that he’s possessed or dangerous, adults know him as a placid but inquisitive beast, as well as a source of great comfort to the stressed and grieving.

The only thing that ever seems to irk him is the unsolicited touching of his Charge: an urn of gravedust from the funeral pyre that unlocked his scrying potential. He stills speaks to it on occasion, glancing inside and smiling or sputtering at the response, always careful to never spill a speck. After all, it once was alive and deserves the utmost respect.
