Japanese name meaning "dragon spirit."
*Bio was written by Deathwolf555*
Ryuu laughed at her little prank. She enjoyed it too. That was, until Chernobyl happened to walk up behind her. It only took a whisper of “Ryuu” for her to panic and turn to him. She slowly grinned and let the words on Brann’s sign come back into view. Alas, the damage has been done. The skydancer tried rewriting them so many times that the paint runs over and the words are a jumbled up mess. Needless to say, she got a stern lecture from Chernobyl, Koji, and Balaur.
Ryuu’s hatching was a great source of joy for both of her parents. From her first coo to her first “prank” of trying to snatch Balaur’s helmet while he was wearing it, her parents dawdled on her. Nevermind, everyone dawdled on her. From Kairo’s small gifts of plushies to Balaur’s bed time stories of far off fantastical lands, every dragon loved the happiness the little hatchling brought to their humble lair.
From these experiences, Ryuu gained a vast amount of knowledge, and it was her dream to see it all. From the volcanos of the Ashfall Wastes to the fallen rocks of the Starfall Isles(to which Igneel informed her that they were known as meteors), Sornieth was hers to explore. Well, except for two problems. One, she was still fairly young, and two, Chernobyl never wanted her to leave the lair. He fretted over her 24/7, with reason, and she was sick of it. Surely she could go at least flying a bit?
Thus, she resorted to begging Kairo to take her with him on his explorations. When that didn’t work, the Skydancer sat in frustration in a lair she couldn’t leave. It was in one of her many frustration episodes that she discovered a new power of hers, most likely a byproduct of her father’s radioactivity. She could turn things invisible! Well, for a time, not forever. She had to hold it in her mind, wrap light around it so it could not be seen. Dragons among the Fuseina Kage clan would sometimes find small items go missing, only for them to reappear where they had thought they had left it. This led to an especially confusing prank where Balaur’s helmet went “missing” whereas he didn’t recall taking it off. He swore he still felt it on his head, but so many dragons complimented on him taking the thing off.
It was her father, Chernobyl, who figured out that Ryuu was manipulating the light energy around her, and wrapping it around bends, thus making the object appear invisible. She had inherited something useful from his radiated genes. He took it upon himself it to help her expand her powers even more. With this, Ryuu’s lost dream of travelling flooded back to her. She began experimenting on herself, starting with a few feathers, to a claw, to her hand. More and more, Ryuu manipulated the light to do her bidding, until she finally could turn herself invisible.
With this power, she went to her father and mother once more and begged to accompany Kairo on a small excursion. This time, Koji accepted. Chernobyl tried to disagree. In the end, his mate and daughter’s begging allowed her to go in 3 days’ time, “plenty of time to change your mind” he had said. The trip, needless to say, was gonna happen. Kairo made sure to bring some kind of bandages and medical gauze in the unlikely case something happened.
They made their way close to the Shadow and Earth border, the Skydancer skipping happily alongside the Guardian. Kairo was even having fun. Until a piercing shriek sounded, along with a wet spraying and the scent of copper filling the air. Ryuu gathered the light around her and disappeared, as a male Skydancer made himself be known, looking similar to herself. His feathers were ruffled and wild, and he was bleeding quite a bit. Much weaker than Kairo. But it appeared he was in a daze, muttering “Everything is the Shade”. Kairo roared, the Skydancer charged.
Kairo fended himself long enough for Ryuu to fly behind the rogue dragon. She couldn’t focus on two powerful magicks at once. So she let herself appear, before beginning to manipulate the energy within the dragon himself. She had only done this on small animals like Ember Mice. Slowly, she controlled his muscles, controlled their will to work for their master. They stilled and twitched against her advances, but she held strong. The dragon could barely turn his head towards his dopple, before stilling. The strain he caused himself took too much energy, and he had lost too much blood to be much more a threat. She lowered him to the ground as his vision fade. Panicking, she gathered the guardian and together they bandaged his wounds, taking the dragon back to a worried Chernobyl and surprised Balaur.
It was a few days before he had woken. She watched as Cloud spoke quiet words to her leader, and watched him walk into the den they put together as a small healing den for him. Finally, Balaur emerged and allowed her entry to see the Skydancer that bore close resemblance to her.
“Hello. My name is Ryuu.” She started. “It’s nice to meet you when you’re not all going savage and trying to kill Kairo…”.
The dragon, expectedly, did not speak.
“Well mister, I wanted to be your friend if you don’t mind.” She stated, a bit boldly. “What’s your name?”
“....”
The rest of the conversation went like it until she curled up near him and eventually fell asleep.
The dragon was dubbed the second Ryuu, Ryuuji, and with Ryuu and Kairo’s blessings, Balaur willingly accepted the rogue into the Fuseina Kage Clan. Ryuu did wiggle her way to becoming Ryuuji’s friend, and was surprised when he one day shyly asked her to go on a small little date with him. And so, Ryuu found herself mated to him, knowing the shy and sweet boy underneath the mystery and pain. It was Ryuu who taught him about the legends of carving your traits into a necklace, and gave him his first bead to start from. In turn, he gave her the last bead for her necklace. Together, they wear them, one bead darker on hers, one bead lighter on his. Sometimes, Ryuu has tried to ask about where the mysterious Skydancer had come from, but she stops when she sees the pain in his eyes, and instead settles for cuddling him, and turning things invisible for his amusement. It was her job to help her love heal from his past. Traveling could wait for now, when they could do it together…
