Biography
Folio
(From ‘Foliose Lichen’ and ‘Foliage’)
Timid/Easy-going/Natural
Having always been slightly more timid than his siblings, Folio was the last to leave his nest. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to go, not exactly. He had simply never felt the nagging urge to leave the safety of his birth-clan, as most dragons do.
It was not until he heard talk from a couple of travelers passing through the Labyrinth that the idea of spreading his wings truly crossed his mind. Perhaps all this green was getting to be a bit much. He needed a fresh scene.
Not long after, he set out on a search for his new clan with well wishes from his mother and words of encouragement from his father.
The young Treedancer trekked far and wide, crossing Flight borders again and again in his journey. But nothing felt quite right if he was not shaded by trees and thick foliage.
When he had exhausted all possibility, Folio turned back towards home, resigned to the fact that the Labyrinth was the only place he would feel right. His path, however, took him straight into the heart of the Tangled Wood.
Originally, the naïve dragon had avoided this dark land, having heard rumors of the Shadowbinder and her minions. But what he found was exactly what he had been looking for.
The trees were overgrown and full of life, from luminous mushrooms to ferns to all sorts of forest fauna much like he was used to at home, albeit adapted to life with little natural light. The landscape was so similar yet so unlike his home clan’s that it absolutely dazzled him. Where the grounds of his home were cleared of brush and fallen trees, here the ground was littered with rotted wood and mossy stones.
The closer he looked around him, the more he began to notice that dragons resided amongst the fallen trees, using the hollow trunks and natural caves and brambles as their homes. Everything was in tune with nature; it really was like home. But so, so different…
He didn’t truly stop, however, until he came to a clearing which was lighted almost too well by oversized fungi. Here, a group of dragons sat peacefully by a fire, recounting tales of times past and cooking all variety of food from their stores.
Hearing him as he stepped across the lightly sloped ground, a couple of the dragons looked over and greeted him with a smile. He knew then that he had made it home.
