THEIA
meaning "goddess" |
a disenchanted heir, coming into their own. denies a charge. growing up, theia was headstrong, arrogant, and so, so naive. she thought the world was hers for the taking, and once she was old enough for the throne, everything would settle into place just the way she wanted. she endured the lessons her mother arranged for her, and thought mostly about what she would do when she was finally ruler. she imagined a territory spanning the majority of the forum, dragons travelling from all across sornieth to see their clan, to pay respects, to request entrance. what she got instead was a war, and the destruction of her clan, her lair, her home. what had once been a clan of hundreds was reduced to two dozen dragons standing in the ruins of a once mighty territory. the vast cave systems that had housed the clan for millennia were ruined, caved in or threatening to do so, and the stench of rot was thick in the air. theia watched her mother, her matriarch, bark orders at nebula to rebuild the clans defenses, at castor to recruit new guards, at the remaining dragons to busy themselves. she looked at what she would someday inherit, and felt nothing. with the passing of syne, and soon after, praell, theia was left to rebuild the clan on her own. still without a charge, and with no pull to find one, theia has nothing to do but plan and rebuild. though their members are few, they are loyal to her, and her alone. she has proven that she can drag the clan back into prosperity, despite every reason she had to leave it behind. ruling alongside theia is her brother, adair, the firstborn child of syne and praell. he had been devastated at the loss of his clan, and then the loss of his charge, their mother syne, and though the siblings had never been close, theia felt it was up to her to bring the life back to adair's eyes. as it turns out, there was more to him than syne had seen, a desperate loyalty and willingness to serve. he wanted what was best for the clan, no matter the cost, and that was something theia could appreciate. |

ages later, and the siblings are finding out it takes more than loyalty and vision to rebuild a clan. more and more of the once-loyal members have left, and theia is gripping onto her leadership by her claws. the clan is failing to rebuild, and the prosperity she so desperately seeks seems far away. her brother has made the decision to join the Shadowbinder, to serve her as he imagined he would serve their clan. she can't blame him. often enough, she wishes to do the same. but this clan is hers, and she's determined to see it thrive, no matter the cost. she's forming a plan, a move that will bring her and her clan out of the dark and into the light. she's not sure it'll work, but she knows anything is better than the current state she's in. needs: starmap, bee |
