As a young hatchling in Plague's region he encountered something no dragon, particularly an Imperial, should ever be witness to in their lifespan.

He had playfully wandered away from his home clan, daring to leave what could be called safe within the Rotrock Rim. Even though young, an Imperial gains the ability to fly quickly thanks to their size. This allowed him to remove himself very far from his home clan. He did have a companion with him, an awakened Plague Sprite, so he felt he could come to no harm.

As he wandered, a clamor reached his ears. There was roaring and shrieking in the direction ahead. He noticed the landscape had changed, he was in the Abiding Boneyard. Shakily he crawled forward, to a steep drop-off ahead to watch the carnage that was occurring below...

Rage. Battle. A mess of tangled bodies and claws. Rising above it all was a creature none in dragon-kind should face, something rarely whispered about in imperial night-stories... an Emperor.

Canicus shivered and shook. He trembled realizing what he saw before him. He cowered and hid under a nearby outcropping, crying and trying to keep quiet as the chaos continued below. The Sprite was at a loss, and stood by him. By nightfall, sounds had quieted, but Canicus was unsure of where the Emperor went.

He had something of a mental break. Upon returning to his birth-clan, he would not move. He was cast-out for weakness. He was tumbled and tossed by winds and storms as he flew pitifully from his territory, somehow ending up under the wing of a "cleanser". The cleanser took the shattered dragon and traveled with him, working to care for his broken mind, and so Canicus took up residence in the ice clan of Yevaud and Reach after the two traveled for some time.

Canicus has never been too kind after this. Especially after the cleanser left, with only his Sprite still beside him, he only shows sheer disdain for everything around him. He holds respect for some members of the clan, but does not waste time on pleasantries. He tries at times, to study Plague-related materials, but freezes whenever he gets too close to the territory.
