Origin: Greek
The enigma.
Most of the Fables instinctually avoid her, in large part due to her appearance, and apparent connection to the Shade; however, were you to ask her, she would boldly claim allegiance to no one. She is neither Fable nor Shade, rather stuck in between the two, and has been for centuries. She has learned to be wary of most living beings, whether they be dragon or hume, but does not hide. In fact, she lives in a rather prominent hut in the woods, an abode that many Fables - young and old - whisper about being hexed.
Though the gift of magic does run through her veins, she has never used her talents for evil. Instead she mostly sticks to practicing alchemy, experimenting with new and questionable recipes at all hours of the day. She is also quite skilled in transmogrification.
She has taken Cillian under her wing, taking pity on him for both his blatant lack of skill as a warlock and his good heart, which is not at all one with the Shade. She also likes to hang out with Eidigh, Cillian's creation and ever loyal companion, despite its lack of intelligence, because wherever there is Eidigh, there are kittens--and Hecate really does like kittens.
She used to consider Badhbh her friend - and lover.
