"Those who love will always be more powerful than those driven by hate."

Azzarra was born in a small Guardian clan on the edge of Starfall Isles. As all Guardians are, she was raised in preparation for the Search through magical, medical, and combative training. Over her youth, she became extremely skilled in magic more so than any of her clanmates. Every elder dragon saw great potential in her and excitedly waited until the age she would be sent off on her Search- knowing that the more powerful the guardian, the more important or great their charge would be.

With honor on her wings and pride in her heart, Azzarra took off after her Search Ceremony, leaving behind her birthclan and kin forever. She travelled a great while, going from cityscapes to dense wilderness on her Search always wondering what she would be the Guardian of. “Would it be a dragon, a treasure, a place, a familiar? What could such a powerful dragon such as I be drawn to protect?” She wondered consistently for years as she travelled, but unfortunately, the answer never seemed to come. She followed her instincts and her magic dutifully but never could she get close enough to find it. When she would feel like she was close, the feeling would disappear on and off like chasing smoke.

Over time, she began to feel hopeless and lost. As they say, a Guardian without a charge was only half a dragon. “Would I ever feel complete?” She begun to think as her resolve slowly left her feeling as though she had let down her entire lineage. Azzarra had fallen into a depression and began to give up on her Search until she met two dragons, another Guardian by the name Midnight and his charge, a Fae named Sprite.

Sprite and Midnight were two young dragons with dreams of creating their own clan for those lost and in need. She bonded with the two and stayed in their growing clan for a long time, using her magic to help those who might need it as the clan established itself. Her depression and the idea that she had failed her kind had never left her. Midnight, as another Guardian, picked up on her depression in realization it was related to her Search. Eventually, the two had a conversation that made her depression break as she came into a great realization.

“Perhaps,” said Midnight quietly, “your charge is not so much of an individual but a collective. Maybe the strength you were born with was not to guard one dragon but all dragons.”

In this conversation, Azzarra began to reflect upon her whole life. From the time she had left her birthplace, she had done nothing but help others in her travels. She healed the sick. She helped areas flourish. She brought peace to areas of conflict. She had protected and guarded many dragons and many places which she had at that point chalked up to the compassionate and selfless nature of the Guardian dragons, but at that moment, she felt as though it had been more with that. The ebb and flow of her instincts as they brought her to places in need made sense.

The next morning, Azzarra bid her farewells to Sprite and Midnight and left like she had on her ceremony day. This time with a new purpose in mind- be a Guardian to all those in need. She took on the role of a wandering mage and let her intuition and magic guide her to where she was needed.

She spent years, once again, travelling Sornieth with a new vigor as she met her newfound duty. She went back to bringing magically peace and prosperity to places in conflict or poverty. She cared for every dragon as a Guardian would their singular charge. One day though, it was different. She awoke and felt her instincts guide her to the Shifting Expanse. She mused the reason as she flown beginning to worry that great trouble had started somewhere and she might not be able to hand it given the intensity her magic projected.

Eventually, Azzarra arrived at the Safe Haven Clan meeting Ibis at the lair entrance. With confusion she spoke to the leader wondering why she had been brought her if not to fix something. Ibis informed her that her clan was at peace and thriving well and that Azzarra was welcome to stay should something occur.

Azzarra stayed in the clan for sometime. It was nice as she had never stayed one place too long feeling obligated to move to the next place of need once her job was complete. She contemplated leaving many of times but some part of her mind told her to wait. Wait so that he may come… her instincts told her. “Who was he?” She questioned time and time again until finally he came.

She was out when Jude brought Danaix back to the clan. He was a troubled dragon who clearly resented the world around him due to his hurt. From the moment she saw him when she reentered the lair, her heart wanted to help him more than anything, and at first, she had convinced herself that it was just because he was so troubled and came from a bad place. She helped him as much as she could and gave him someone to open up to about his past abuse, and as time passed and he started to feel better and safer, she realized the feeling had never faded. In fact, the feeling grew.

In the time that past, Azzarra had fallen in love with Danaix and realized that he was her true charge, and in turn, Danaix had fallen for her and declared her to be his charge, saying that for once in her life she deserved to feel protected too. Of course, even after meeting him and them declaring their love for each other, Azzarra never stopped helping those in need. Though Danaix was her true charge and love, she never stopped loving and caring for any dragons in need and this time Danaix was there too to also help others and make sure she never felt alone again.
