Brimstone is a hellion, that much is simple. Raised under the watchful eye of her domineering, monstrous mother, she learned at quite the young age that violence was quite the solution to most of her everyday problems. While her father struggled to curb her vicious nature, he found that there was little he could do to calm her inner beast. He watched helplessly as his preaching and tutoring in the ways of the Earthshaker were twisted into something far more sinister and deadly. It truly is a wretched thing to watch your own daughter destroy her foes with the sacred earth beneath her feet, bending the expanses of rock and soil beneath the Pillar to her will and crushing all who oppose her. Magic, it would seem, is her Charge, or rather her magic is her charge. She delights in creating and fiercely protecting her own “recipes” of destruction, grinning as she pens formulas and incantations in clay tablets kept under lock and key by her side, in a half-rotted chest she painstakingly lugs at her side like a hatchling with their favorite toy. Those who dare to try to peek without her permission tend to meet unfortunate accidents or horrible ends, encased in stone and slowly crushed or left buried up to their necks far, far from their home. The few who she trusts enough to allow a glimpse at her work are dumbfounded by the bulk of it, the nonsensical scrawlings in ciphers that only she can decode, like hieroglyphs left behind by ancient beastfolk. Even then, she only allows them only the briefest moment to study her notes, lest they crack her code and take her secrets away. Brimstone is a brute and a behemoth, ferocious and cruel and cold and calculating. She has the plagueland knack for survival that she inherited from her mother, and the stubbornness inherent of most Earth dragons, a combination that can prove frustrating and lethal. The sole survivor of her clutch, she is not very well-versed in the ways of “sharing” or “empathy,” and is an extremely selfish and single-minded creature who values her own wellbeing over all else. It is very rare one can dredge a favor from Brimstone, and even rarer that she will not demand something in return as repayment for making her waste her time. |
