Toret

Toret, much like her mate Alexsei, was abandoned as an egg. However, instead of having to fend for herself, she was adopted by a kind band of traveling bards. Her hatchling days were spent traveling across the land. She learned about all the cultures, traditions, and lore of the territories the band visited—and many, many songs.

She left her little family to start a new one with Alexsei—a young guardian dragon she had saved while she and her group were traveling through the scrubs. Once he had recovered, he had to leave to continue his search—but Toret could tell he was conflicted about something. Perhaps she realized his loneliness, or perhaps simply instinctively she stepped forward and offered to come with him.

Traveling with Alexsei was much different than traveling with her old family. As is a dragon on a Search, he was constantly restless and didn’t like to stop and smell the roses for very long. The scrubs were also very dangerous—especially for only two traveling dragons. Clans traveled in numbers, and numbers offered safety. Though, only Toret and Alexsei couldn’t be considered a clan.

However, though neither of them had counted on it, their numbers began to grow very slowly.

“Hello, young one. Are you here by yourself? Come here—you can travel with us, if you so wish.”

Occasionally, through their travels, the duo would encounter a young dragon or hatchling. Toret immediately took them under her wing, insisting to Alexsei that this dragon travel with them for only a little while!

Grumpily, Alexsei would agree. Then, they’d encounter another dragon, and the process would repeat. At first, many were hostile towards the seemingly suspicious Toret. Though, her constant kindness and perseverance won them over, just like it had Alexsei.

The duo had grown into a family, and the family was growing into a clan. Though her three biological children all eventually left the clan, Toret continued to remain a mother and confident for every member of the clan.
