Nihlus was an odd young hatchling, not fitting in very well with his Wind clanmates. They were always fascinated with soaring through the sky and chasing floaty things, whereas Nihlus was fascinated with the ground and the beautiful rocks found on it. His family did his best to love him, but they always felt a bit of shame when he refused to go flying, saying he wanted to go rock hunting instead. Even though, he was not deterred. He read every geology book he could find, lined his area of the den with glowing crystals, and refused company to search for his beloved stones. Eventually, this became too much for his family to handle and they ostracized him, saying he was "no true Wind dragon if his talons never leave the ground." After this, Nihlus took off to find another home. He first settled in the realm of Earthshaker, but found it not to his liking. Yes, the home of the lord of the earth was to the disliking of a geologist. The reason was there weren't many places to learn, and the collecting wasn't exceptionally enjoyable if you didn't know what it was you were picking up. So Nihlus left across Sornieth and, after a couple months in Lightweaver's domain, he ended up in the Shifting Expanse. He found the small clan of Wanderer's Haven, and Temeraire offered to teach him even more about the rocks and gems he wished to collect. Now, Nihlus has set out to collect all the different types of rocks and gems in Sornieth, and he has enlisted the help of almost every dragon he came across. Nihlus is also attempting to get into archeology, and is doing his best to collect fossils and other artifact sonnected to history and the origins of dragon kind.
