Even as a hatchling living in the Southern Icefield Orca was already fascinated by the sea. There was something about its vastness that beckoned him and made him want to know what lay beyond that horizon. When he grew up, Orca decided that he wanted to get out there, to see all the shores and the seas of the world and to find out where it all ended. Being a Snapper and therefore landbound, using his wings for travelling was not an option, so Orca began to learn all he could about building ships and sailing them, about navigation and map-making, about the currents of the sea and how to harness the winds. When he deemed himself ready, he started building himself a ship. It was the proudest day of his life when he finished his work, christening her "Beyond". Orca found himself a small, reliable crew, and then they finally set sail, ready to face the Unknown.

Orca travelled far and wide, set foot on many shores and learned more about the sea and its wonders than most dragons do in a lifetime. He never found out where the world ended, though, because at Nature's shore he found something even more intruiging than the endless sea: a lovely Snapper female with the name Paikea, who loved the ocean with all her heart and couldn't get enough of Orca's tales. Orca's heart dropped anchor then and there, and for the first time in his life, he wanted to stay more than he wanted to leave. Gifting his ship to his faithful crew, he stayed ashore and became part of Paikea's clan, Safe Haven.

Orca is the only dragon in our clan who knows anything about ships and sailing and when Clan Safe Haven decided to move to Light, it was Orca who once again build a ship and ferried those dragons of the clan over to Light who either couldn't fly or weren't comfortable with the thought of flying over sea. Once Paikea and he had settled down in their new surroundings, now living in a beautiful cave by the seaside, Orca built a new, smaller ship. He called it "Paikea" and they often use it to sail along the shore or out to the sea, taking along any dragon of the clan who wants to come.

When Orca isn't sailing or building ships, he likes to work with wood. He is a gifted craftsdragon, able to carve beautiful toys as well as ornate decorations or create practical tools or furniture, which makes him very sought-after in his clan. Except when someone asks after his travels, Orca tends to be a quiet dragon, not shy, but also not a dragon of many words. When among others, he likes to just quietly sit there and whittle, occasionally contributing to the conversation when he feels like it.

The three favorite things in his world are to go sailing (with Paikea and perhaps some clan members), to seek shells or go swimming with Paikea, and to carve beautiful things from all kinds of wood.
