Something slithers through the shadows. One moment, it’s there. The next, it’s gone.

Devon is practically a chameleon. Although her true colors, or lack thereof, are black and white, her scales have the fantastical property of being able to blend in with her surroundings. This doesn’t work so well in daylight or bright, artificially lit rooms, so this Imperial prefers to stick to the shadows whenever she can.

She’s a sneaky sort of creature, who makes her living off the misfortune of others. When Devon is hungry, she need only take someone else’s food. If she lacks coin or medicine, she can take that too. When it’s possible to melt into the background and hide like Devon can, there are no real consequences for your actions.

In her defense—what little defense there is—Devon was truly never taught any better. She was born to two traveling con artists in the Plague lands. As the young Imperial grew up, she watched her parents make a living by tricking others. Although they never physically harmed anyone, and made sure never to get too greedy and overstep their boundaries, they were still thieves and scoundrels.

“We do what we must to survive. If the hunter has two rabbits hanging above his fire, why should he not share one with us?”

Her mother always loved to say things like that. To be honest, Devon agrees. She never really learned to care for herself in any other way. Still, she’s not an evil creature at heart. Just a wayward one.
