Eight of Swords – Two of Cups – Seven of Swords
A Hand of Risk Taking
The Eight of Swords: Swords are the suite of conflict and unfortunately it seems like this hand is layered with strife. We begin with the Eight of Swords, to be caught in the kind of situation that only worsens the more one struggles against it. Like the briars will only pull tighter the more the swan thrashes, so too will her situation become more unclear the more she struggles to define it. Taking a moment to breath, pause, and really think things through, is the key to untangling yourself.
Two of Cups: Luckily Neith has a partner to help her, the two of cups is union and synergy, partnership, one person’s weakness is another’s strength. If Neith is too restless to pause and take stock of her situation in the way it deserves then Rugievit is there to at least offer a different way of looking at things.
Seven of Swords: An attempt to escape responsibility, or the taking of that which one cannot rightfully claim. In the context of the previous two cards, I feel like Rugievit, though very well intentioned, gives bad or misguided advice. Or perhaps it is good advice that she misinterprets. She takes on too much, tries to take a shortcut, or has to abdicate whatever new duty she took on in the attempt to earn her place in the clan.

Neith hatched on an oddly stormy day in an abandoned nest. The first thing she saw was not her parents like most other hatchlings, but blood on destroyed eggs. At the time, she was too young to realize how lucky she was to be alive. Led by her hunger, she wandered from her nest through a monotonous territory until she was found by a Dryad. Being such nice familiars, they decided to raise her. Despite their differences, she felt like one of their family, but deep down she wanted to know the family that had initially left her. As Dryads don’t live long, her adopted parents died and she was left alone with her sibling. It was then they decided to search for their birth family, for other dragons. After searching a while, the finally found a clan full of them and she was allowed to join their ranks. Neith quickly found her place as a hunter. It became her favorite chore to bring food to the nests where Rugievit--who always seemed to be a bit grumpy--raised most of the orphaned hatchlings, most of whom had lost their parents in the same battle where she suspected he lost his eye, though she wasn’t sure. Even after they became mates, he would never confess to how he lost it, but it didn’t matter to her. She loved him, and how he always had an interesting fact befitting every situation, how he was always there for her, and how he always ignored her cursing and restlessness. |
