The funerary practices of the weyr include stripping all of the flesh from the bodies of the fallen in order to perfectly preserve their bones. Iremonith has been charged with this most sacred task. Her hunger is insatiable. The birdbrains have always assumed that she eats the corpses, sequestered away in the highest reaches of the weyr in the ossuary oubliette with her bizarre lover, queens of their reeking den of blood and decay.

Feasting on dragonflesh is the ultimate taboo in the bayou. She neither invites nor allows spectators to her rituals and she rarely walks among the other dragons at all, preferring the company of her beloved Orpruscoursth. Mates have never come between them and their slavish devotion to eachother. Their nests are urged by the Mother of the Brood to keep the lines of the clan healthy and genetically diverse, although neither have any interest in rearing new life. They surrender their eggs to the creche before the little ones inside even break shell, preferring to keep all young away from the liquidation chambers. Unless they've died, of course.
