Biography
Elikai
priest
priest
Elikai, for lack of a better word, is misguided. He calls himself a priest, a spreader of truth, but that would be a lie. He may speak in the Arcanist’s name, but he will never embody Arcane’s principles. Instead of seeking knowledge, he chooses to keep his mind closed. He may be a dreamer, but his dreams only hold visions of an impossible future. The future he sees is one with only one deity. A world where dragons spend all day serving said deity, with no room for “frivolous things.” In this world, dragons are not exalted in the sense that we know, but sacrificed for everyone to see. And he believes himself to be the bringer of this world. Of course, he is too much of a coward to do anything. He deludes himself, thinking he is of great importance, babbling to anyone that will listen. But he is weak, in mind and in body. Sometimes he screams. No one really knows what he's screaming at, but it's enough to scare hatchlings and annoy older dragons. So his nest is higher up than most, tucked away where most dragons could not see nor hear him. Every now and then, you will hear startled shouts, or he will venture down into the common area (which can be quite frightening for newcomers or passers by, who have likely not heard a peep of his existence) to loiter and loom about. When he's overcome with a fit, he'll sometimes try to hurt himself. Slamming into walls, beating his head, clawing at himself. It's not a pretty sight. And it's only made worse when someone tries to restrain him, especially someone he's uncomfortable with. His crime record is long but unwritten, detailing every blow and gash he has dealt. More than once, the monarch has been questioned as to why he is still there. She will tell them that this is his home, just as it is theirs, and to turn him away would be beyond cruel. Many wave off her sentiment, however. It came as a large surprise that any dragon would take special interest in such a dragon, especially one as kind and gentle the peacemaker Anasa. But she did. Some say out of pity, some say from her own misguided idles, but they would never believe that it is out of genuine care for Elikai. She will tell you that the Spiral is more than he appears. That you can’t always judge a book by its cover. She know it sounds cliche, but what else can she say? Most dragons regard her mate as unhinged, completely unsavable - and why would they not, with his resputation? But Anasa sees another side of Elikai. A soft-spoken, scared dragon, who only sees bleakness and fear in the world. He shakes, sometimes, overcome with anxiety, voice lost in his throat and unable to voice his needs. He hardly leaves the cave, or even his nest, and often forgets to eat. So Anasa takes it upon herself to care for him. To guide him out into the world once in a while, to lay a comforting claw on his head when he starts to panic, to softly speak him down when he has his fits. And Elikai tells her about all the things he sees, and they joke, sometimes. It's an odd relationship, but it works for them. Elikai is just trying to survive in a world that seems like it was built against him.
