Biography
fun-loving, naive, compassionate
Jewel, the child of two nomads - one a dancer and the other a treasure hunter, was a creative child with a curious mind. She was much like her father at a young age, always exploring the world around her. Her hands were always busy fiddling with something, yet nothing could hold her attention, be it her father’s shinies, mother’s jewelry, the newest toy or hobby. She was as flighty as a leaf in the wind, jumping from interest to interest, discarding one when it became dull or too hard.
Her mother introduced her to Misieth and asked her to take her on as an apprentice, hoping the work of a seamstress would be a good outlet for her creativity and energy, or at least calm her flighty nature, perhaps even capture her interest for good and give her a goal in life. Jewel definitely wasn’t a stellar apprentice the first few moons. Jewel had no interest in sewing besides dressing up in the finished outfits and found the precise needlework frustrating. Misieth was a strict teacher, determined to at least stuff the basics of sewing into the stubborn Imperial’s head and show her the beauties of the craft.
Jewel did her best to please her mother and out of respect towards Misieth, finding her work to be awe-inspiring, yet never truly put her soul into her work until the day she saw a beautiful Skydancer parading around in Misieth’s shop in one of her flowing, colorful dresses. She wanted to make someone look so beautiful too!
From that day on Jewel threw herself into studying the art of sewing. Much of the soft, precise work was hard for a dragon her size and left her hands sore for days, but she was getting better bit by bit. Once she mastered the basics Misieth began teaching her the nuances of their trade and how to design one’s outfits, much to Jewel’s delight.
There are no bounds to Jewel’s creativity, though not all of her ideas have any use… If they are even possible. Many of her design are very outlandish – too revealing, stuffy, embarrassing, or overly extravagant. Thankfully most of these end at the drawing board thanks to Misieth’s timely intervention.
Jewel loves decorating outfits with her namesakes, small, glittery jewels, colorful rocks and beads. She’s learned how to tastefully add them to her creations, giving them that touch of uniqueness. A creation she particularly loves, a dress decorated at the hip with a particularly beautiful emerald gifted to her by Misieth, was a gift to her mother, who wears it with pride.
Jewel hates boredom and is always occupying herself, either by working with her hands, mind, or finding other entertainment, such as playing with the clan’s hatchlings, chatting with her friends, or working on new outfit ideas. She’s a chatterbox, always up to date on the newest gossip. Her friendliness and compassionate personality have earned her many friends among her fellow dragons. She is very active and loves flying, spending many warm, summer days in the skies. Jewel still hasn’t matured fully and can act like a child, whining and pouting when she doesn’t want to do something.
She loves to dance and uses festivals to showcase her and Misieth’s work on herself during elaborate dances. She is truly a stunning Imperial, her beauty coveted by many suitors. But Jewel is waiting for the one, the dragon that will capture her eye and heart and shoos all others away with a swipe of her tail.
