Born from a family of blacksmiths, Radience was different from his siblings. Bored with the endless pounding of hammers, the heat of the forge and the shaping of steel, he longed for a different sort of lifestyle. Another path he could follow, one that he was sure would be his true calling. His family shunned him for his bloodthirsty desires, and those of his first clan shied away when he walked past. They were scared of him, scared of the path he so desired. They were scared enough to want him gone. They wanted to feel safe, and they blamed his family for letting such a dragon stay with them.

An accident, an awful, horrid tragedy; den of the blacksmiths went up in flames, the family trapped inside. Radience had broken in to attempt to save them, but became trapped himself. Just as the lack of breathable air caused him to pass out, he saw a light. It shone through the smoke, brighter than the fire. It brought a calm peace to his mind, touched his skin and seemed to draw lines of power, softly glowing upon his skin. He woke far away from his first clan, from his family. His family that was still alive, whole and happy. A dream, he decided later, made the most sense, but only days later the markings appeared on his skin, glowing golden and casting a soft light.

It had it be a sign.
Radience left that day, and found his true place, his calling, his home, among a light clan. His fiery breath is admired there, even respected. He is called a warrior, a protector of the clan. He still carries his marks even today, and bears them proudly. Those marks, that dream, all led him home, to the light.
