Biography
Names hold power.
It's unknown to most that the name gifted to a dragon upon their birth holds immensurable power of a very peculiar kind. It's not the powerful magick wielded by skilled magicians in search of power, capable of slaying mountains upon mountains of the foes that oppose their path. Nor is it part of the Forbidden Arts, gifting their wielders with immense power if only in exchange of a sacrifice equally important. Instead, it's subtle, to the point its tale was forgotten by nearly all despite its importance, lost in the throes of Time and Memory. It does not interfere, does not mend nor destroy, gift nor curse; it simply is. Because the moment of Naming is the moment the very essence of this new being is tied to Fate, Destiny and Life itself, be it for better or for worse.
With that in mind, it's very ironic that the name the parents of this particular Tundra deemed fit for him was Mage. He was a bold and curious youngling, wanting to help others but not knowing how. After an old wanderer passed by his Clan, he was struck by an great, if pratically impossible idea. Illuded with the hopes of becoming a wandering hero like many other hatchlings just like him, he trained and trained in order to become stronger. But even after multiple attempts, he could not produce a single manifestation of the magical power his name forebonded. Many called him stubborn to the point of idiocy, but yet he did not waver. Unsatisfied with the lack of success, he dedicated himself entirely to the study of theoretical magic, hoping to find a way of becoming a magic wielder. Unfortunately, as he grew up, the only thing Fate reserved to him was failure.
By the time he became an adult by the eyes of his Clan, he was already considered a Master in spite of his young age, and his knowledge of such things only grew as time passed. Dragons from all around Sornieth began to ask for his consel regarding his area of expertise, despite his lack of magical ability. He slowly obtained the gratitude and friendship of many dragons with wildly varied lifestyles, and even when dark thoughts threatened to swallow him whole, the thankful voices of those he helped brought him back. That was when he understood this was his Destiny. To teach and be taught. To learn and grow. And more importantly, to flourish surrounded by his loved ones.
Names hold power. But what is power?
Perhaps there's magic in him, after all. It's not the type that slay monsters and move mountains, but it's equally as important. It flows in his heart and mind, seeps into his very essence and thrums with power of a very peculiar kind. If he were to be asked about his childhood failures in this exact moment, he'd hold his head high and smile, with all the right to do so. After all, eccentric, stubborn Mage is one of the few blessed enough to know the true purpose of his Life.
