Guardian of Monet Mate of Finley | ______ |
THE ALCHEMIST'S APPRENTICE
Rhea is an Alchemist's assistant, and it's quite a job when the alchemist is a tundra who sometimes forgets which jars the poisons are. However, working for her charge means she gets to watch over her every day. Besides, Rhea quite likes alchemy, and Monet was very considerate to expand the tent that serves as her store so that Rhea could move freely inside it. The young guardian's favorite task, however, is getting to go out into the woods and gather ingredients for her instructor. She loves the outdoors, and the way the trees in the Sunbeam Ruins seem to be in a perpetual state of Autumn. Finley sometimes comes with her on these excursions, but often agrees to stay behind and ensure that Monet doesn't blow herself up while Rhea is gone. The tiny fae might seem like an odd match for a guardian, but the two had been inseparable ever since Finley arrived from Flamecaller's territory. And besides, he got along with Monet, and was almost better than Rhea at keeping her out of trouble. |
THE SEARCH
Rhea had always lived with her family in the Scarred Wasteland. But she was a guardian, and her charge was not there. So eventually, when she felt the drive to search for something to protect, she left. She traveled through the Tangled Wood almost without stopping; a place of tricks was no place for her, and her charge was not there. Rhea soon found herself in Sunbeam Ruins, and wandered onto a promenade, where there seemed to be a marketplace set up. There were colorful tents and bustling dragons underfoot everywhere she went, and the sun was bright and dazzling. She picked a tent that looked large enough to peek into, and stuck her rather large head through the flaps. Inside was an assortment of colorful jars, and a tundra that appeared to be covered in soot. Something about this tundra seemed familiar to the guardian. “You smell like an old memory” Rhea told her. The tundra continued to sort through her colorful shelves, and replied, “That makes sense youngin’; a dragon’s nose is strong, and sometimes remembers things long after the mind has forgotten. You smell like the Viridian Labyrinth yourself.” "My mother guards a forest there, it’s where I was born” Rhea said, realizing that this dragon was also from the Labyrinth, which was why she smelled familiar. She settled down - half in and half out of the tent - and spoke with the tundra about a place they both barely remembered. The young guardian was content, this was a good place for her, and her charge was here. |
