Both of my soft spots for Arcane and Glimmer dragons have been hit, and on top of that an XYY. Calyx’s underbelly and horns look like a night sky against pitch darkness compared to the darkness of her torso. Butterfly was a very nice choice for the wings, it gives her this lacy elegance accented by her Regal Masque. For her I’d suggest a Starseer’s Emblem and perhaps some of the Sakura set.




WRITING

Bold, witty, talkative, and fairly proud. Calyx can take many a good-natured gibe and willthrough you a few of her own, but if you really insult her in bad humor and push her hard enough, expect punches to fly. She’s pretty good at sensing the mood, and if she needs to (or feels like, rather) redirecting it, usually does so with fast, engaging conversations. She can continue on one thread or another for quite some time, and is known in running her mouth for however long she needs, though she generally knows when she needs to just shut up just ‘cause she knows when she needs to do so, doesn’t mean she always does. She tends to be fairly stubborn and can be fairly brazen, which has gotten her into quite a bit of trouble with other dragons.

As a hatchling, Calyx spent much of her time arguing and getting into scuffles with other dragons. These moments of unladylike behavior were few and far between, with Calyx much preferring to argue her way out of a situation than fight her way out. During her childhood she became fast friends with an imperial named Jasper, also full of rude comments and confrontational attitude. They complimented each other nicely, often being referred to as Those Two, capital T's and everything. Their mentors and the adults in the clan would often be forced to separate them if they were to learn anything.

They spent a lot of time arguing with each other, even when they were supposed to be learning. On top of it all, she developed a very spiral-like ability to chatter non-stop about something she likes. She can send a conversation reeling onto another track with a few quickly placed words and will run with them until she ends her thought. This is relatively infrequent, as she rarely ends a thought so much as continues the thought into perpetuity while jumping from point to point. She knows when to stop talking if necessary but she will ignore it every so often just to see how far she can press someone.

Transitioning from youth into young adulthood should have simmered her attitude, calming her and allowing her to grow more as a dragon. Astronomy drew her attention as it does to many arcane-hatched dragons. The movement of the stars captivates her and inspires her. Many of her dreams often include flying among the stars, curling around them and through them, watching the beauty of their natural movement from a closer vantage point. Having naturally alluring movements, Calyx began learning the art of dance. At first she fought with anyone trying to correct her posture, taking it as a direct insult. It took some time before she started taking the advice and criticisms to heart instead of letting them wound her. As a result, her dancing became increasingly better. She amazed audiences and dazzled anyone watching her. The light shimmering off her bright scales and glinting from her mask add to the beauty of her fluid movements. Most spirals, if able to focus their energy, are amazing dancers. Calyx is no exception and her entire clan is overjoyed to watch her dance.

Few friends from her childhood stayed by her side, either because of her attitude or their own life changes. She easily gets into arguments and will not let a single dragon push her around, no matter who it is. She will put her foot down and if the offending dragon doesn't get the hint and back off, she isn't afraid to fight them. More than once she has been in a cat fight when another dragon didn't want to back down. It's harder to get into fights with male dragons who tend to avoid hitting her even if she isn't so averse to hitting them if need be. She has even gotten into a few fights with Jasper, although they're never anything too serious. Any fight they have is easily resolved when one of them backs down and offers up a laugh first. So far, their friendship has never suffered and is still going strong to this day.

Being a superb dancer and having complete mastery over her body makes it easier for her to fight. She can defend herself and her friends if need be, although most of her friends can easily defend themselves. Never one to start a fight for no reason, it takes a bit of effort for her to use her abilities for such a reason. When threatened by beastclan enemies or rival clans she will jump to the defense, making sure the members around her are safe and she is doing all she can do. Her pride keeps her standing strong against all comers, never allowing her to back down without a valiant fight.

She is the coiling lunar essence high on the cliff top. Seen at night, when the eye already struggles in the darkness, one automatically assumes she is a hallucination, a river of rosy light, a starbeam given pink form, an extraterrestrial angel. Her loveliness and elegance are sweet counterpoints to her melodious song, which drifts down the mountains, haunting and soft as a pan flute, a paean to the full moon.
