PERSONALITY

Pragmatic, precise, but always gentle, Seiren enjoys a relaxed life in her isolated hut. Away from the two main branches of the clan's caves - the main Emberhearth Caverns and the Painted Caves of the Gardens and the Downs of Light - and away from some of the other popular areas in which to dwell, such as Icicle Observatory - Seiren is generally left alone to work, only occasionally recieving visits from such dragons as Pleione, Asteria and Melania.

This is not, however, to say that she dislikes company. When a shipment of her craftwork finally departs from Firefall Port she's usually there to see it go, and she has never minded being roped in to help teach the clan's hatchlings.

ABOUT

Hatched in the Driftwood Drag, Seiren used her impeccable nightvision when diving in the waters off the coast. Usually she dived to help fish for her clan, but sometimes she dived for her own pleasure, bringing up pearls and pretty shells - whatever caught her eye, glinting in the dim, water-filtered moonlight of the shadowed waters.

These days, she doesn't dive quite as frequently. The waters off the Ashfall wastes are laced with ash and far above a temperature she's comfortable swimming in; usually Seiren dwells in the shadowed forest at the edge of the Downs of Light, where the mountain climbs towards the Icicle Observatory. While she will swim, it is in the smaller, shallower rivers there, and while there are occasional freshwater pearls for her to collect, there are not nearly as many as Asteria can find for her on a regular basis by diving off the coast.

After all - ash is an irritant even to the fire-adapted molluscs, and creates gorgeous pearls of unexpected colourations.

Her chosen domain is well-suited to her, and, far away from the clan's borders as it is, it is exceedingly safe - as is ideal for some of the powerful treasures she works on. Seiren's magical capability has always been well-suited to enchanting and with Pyrmal's rise up the ranks of the Craftsdragons and Melania's presence in the clan, Seiren has been pushed to further improve her enchanting song. The items she creates are prized far and wide, and, were she located closer to the clan borders, raids would be a definite risk.

As it is, however, she is well away from such risks, dwelling in her mycotimber hut under the bioluminescent leaves of the forest's austras koks - the saplings carefully transplanted from her home. Seiren also places traps to hunt duskrats, bats, moles, and even certain insects - a kind of passive hunting that is nonetheless quite successful. Most of the clan knows where her traps tend to be placed, and several of the Shadowguard are known to check on them during their patrols.

On some rare occasions Seiren is roped in to helping the teachers, scholars and librarians of the clan, teaching those dragons who wish to stay, or who wish to join a new clan with at least some skills under their belts, how to enchant and how to sing spellwork into an item. While Melania teaches song and various members of the clan can teach magic, Seiren's speciality is specifically enchantment, and it is due to her that most dragons who leave the clan to join another do so with some small enchanted token to mark where they came from.

RELATIONSHIPS

Pleione | Mentor

The dragon who first brought Seiren into the clan, Pleione is mentor, companion and friend to the craftsdragon. While all three of the Sorcerous Council visit both the Craftdragons and the Library Scholars, Seiren and Pleione have always had a closer friendship than mere collegial friendliness.

Asteria | Pearl-Diver

Asteria's enchantment magic is more useful in reinforcing herself, or being channelled by others to reinforce what she makes. Nonetheless, she and Seiren are close, and it is often Asteria who's dives bring up the pearls and larimar Seiren likes to use in the jewellery she enchants.

Melania | The Harmony

Seiren has always had an innate knack for song, but with Melania's addition to the clan she's been pushed and encouraged beyond her usual bounds. With Melania's aid, Seiren's enchantments have advanced as well, and she's increasingly crafting more complicated items.

Carnelian | Protege

Generally, Carnelian works with the miners, as her particular knack for enchanting allows her to reinforce stone and keep it from falling. Nonetheless, that is not all her magic can do, and Seiren has taken the other imperial under her wing to encourage her in more delicate, complicated spellwork.

Misa | Rare Visitor

Of the Shadowguard it is generally Misa who checks her traps in the night - and, in turn, it is reliably Misa to deliver baskets of food to Seiren when she gets caught up working. Misa never forgets who's traps catch a portion of the clan's food, and she always makes sure Seiren is fed.
