"The Scariest Monsters Are the Ones that Lurk Within Our Souls"

Omega grew up in a royal Arcane family, the latest in a line of Emperors and Empresses. He was also the youngest of five other brothers who all equally hated him as much as his parents. He was worthless in their eyes, nothing at all. A nobody since he would never become an Emperor himself. That hatred festered inside of Omega. But he was so young. He just hid it all inside of him, letting it build up and up.
And when he was two months old he snapped. Something just broke inside of him. Angry all of a sudden, he lashed out at his father and his father lashed back, always regretting more and more ever letting his youngest son hatch from his egg at all. "I should've smashed your egg on the side of a cliff!" his father snarled at him.
Enraged, Omega said, "And I should've run away before this! You think you're such great parents?" his parents were always bragging about how caring they were of family. What a lie. "Well I hate you! You deserve to die for everything you've done, every lie you're said!"His father had faltered then, unbelieving that his son could be so full of dislike of him. He had stopped fighting, let all his energy fade off. "Is that really what you think of me?"
Adrenaline pumping through him, Omega wasn't about to back off right now. He jumped at his father, unaware that shadows were flitting around him and attacking as one with him. In a heartbeat, Omega's father lay dead on the ground, his blood staining Omega's claws and leaking onto the ground below them. Omega felt strangely thrilled about his first kill. An unnatural energy coursed through him. He gazed at the shadows around him praise and realized: he was a Shadow Summoner. He was one of the most powerful and feared dragons ever created.
"Omega?" the tentative voice came from his mother.
Not so brave now that you're overpowered, huh, Mother? Omega thought viciously, the shadows still slithered through his blood. His five brothers stood next to her, looking with fear at their younger brother. Out of a moment of pure rage, Omega killed them all.
Sensing the power of a Shadow Summoner being used, the other Shadow Summoners came, flying in like shadows. He's very powerful. They spoke with whispers. Can we train him?
The leader, a magnificent black male Imperial said, Yes. He will be the best, the most powerful of us all.
They took Omega in and attempted to train him but failed miserably. Omega's strength outnumbered all of the thirty Shadow Summoners combined. Feeling threatened by his power, the lead Summoner tried to slay Omega in his sleep. Easily angered, Omega shrouded the whole camp in shadows and smothered them all. Finally, the weight of all the murders fell heavily on Omega's shoulders. He finally felt regret and shame by all of these wasted deaths. For all he knew, he was the last Shadow Summoner now. He was an end to his own race. How could he just continue living as if nothing had ever happened?
Depressed, Omega began to wander the forest, uncaring whether he was killed or not. He didn't eat anything for several days. He barely survived attacks by wild animals preying on weak, solitary dragons. By the time Karale found him he was already half dead. She'd been on a scouting mission, but returned instantly with Omega. Nursing him back to health, an impossible bond seemed to form between them.
At this time Karale was without an Alpha male yet. She and Omega became great friends, though Omega was still haunted occasionally by his tragic past. But Omega refused to become her Alpha male. He didn't want that sort of responsibility. Karale soon found Kincaid, but their bond was never shaken. It seemed that Omega did belong somewhere after all.

Characteristics Omega is a strong spirited dragon. Although at times he's rather depressed, he can be cheerful but in a kind of dark way. Occasionally, he descends into gloomy moods and doesn't talk to anyone for long periods of time. Karale can sometimes pull him out of these, other times it's up to him to pull himself out of his self pity and regret and shame. But other times he can be happy and nice to other dragons. Teaching them techniques and helping them learn a part of life in Mystieke. He's a valued clan member.
Relationships Omega's mate is Summerstone who was rescued hours after he was. Of course she was in better shape than he when she was rescued. Summerstone proved the only other dragon besides Karale who could calm him during a Shadow episode and breakout. The two couldn't help but fall for each other. They produced three eggs. Two of the hatchlings died in their eggs from the overwhelming power of Shadows that had spread through Omega's blood and into theirs. The third hatched into a beautiful young Pearlcatcher female. Hearth is a powerful young dragon. Omega couldn't be more happy of her.
