Biography

DEATHSPEAKER SHAMAN

Ereshkigal is the clan's Deathspeaker - a kind of mystic or shaman who can communicate with the dead and who guides the dying, ensuring their spirits eternal rest. The Deathspeakers are able to bind and summon spirits, and so her beloved familiar Cerdae now serves in death, as the ghostly Nightmare, as it did in life.

In Mesopotamian mythology from the long-ago mists of the Second Age, Ereshkigal was the older sister and counterpart of Inanna/Ishtar, the symbol of nature during the non-productive season of the year. Her name means "Queen of the Great Earth" and she was the goddess of Irkalla, the land of the dead or underworld.
