Cinqero - Friend A little perplexing, but good company. Like Cryo, can be spoken to plainly without fear of distressing. F A M I L I A R  Aether and stardust laced with his own magic, which always returns to its crystal orb no matter how many times it is shattered with the sheer volatility of its own composition. O C C U P A T I O N~~~~~Core SPIRIT Seems perpetually tired and delicate, despite his extraordinarily vibrant (and thus healthy, by typical coatl standards) plumage. His magic would be lively even without comparison to its subdued host - always buzzing through his feathers, pulsing across his throat and fingers, illuminating the numerous, ever-shifting markings all over his body. (Some of those markings are not his own, though done by his hand and claw - deliberate etchings, binding runes for safety's sake. The faintest flickers in a circuit of vibrancy.) His is the sort of bearing that would invite well-meaning inquiries of "are you okay?", pity drawn to those downcast, too-bright eyes and slouched posture. Whether this is genuine melancholy or just the natural composition of his features is generally debatable; if questioned, it shifts minutely into something a little wrier, a little more composed, though he's never yet given a proper answer. - - - Essentially raw energy incarnate, twisting and unpredictable. It washes over the clan's territory and residents, suffusing their magic with the same volatility as his own. One might find trends or reliable patterns, but that little wild card chance is always there, particularly in his close presence. Few know that Kortzel is the cause of their inconsistent system of magic, or even truly notice it at all - it is simply one of those unconscious facts of life. Always known, never considered. Though he still considers it an integral aspect of his being, his powers do place quite a strain on both his mind and body. Cryo provides him an easy source of respite, as she is able to numb the searing migraines or other overwhelming sensations that occasionally strike him, and Kortzel keeps a staff imbued with her magic with him at all times. Eschewing a proper job within the clan, he keeps mostly to himself and his highly variable selection of hobbies. Knitting, cards, pressing flowers - points of constant peripheral focus to keep his mind anchored. On the occasion that he's coaxed into proper conversation, he has a habit of constructing bizarre convoluted metaphors, even for the most mundane of topics. No one is quite sure whether or not they're meant to be a deadpan joke. He has never been seen angry or even irritable - only placidly forgiving, even towards the most spiteful of acts against him. In fact, he hardly even seems to register malice. |
