 Veloden was abandoned as a young hatchling and she had to learn to fend for herself very early on. This is what started her distrust of dragons. As an adolescent, she found her way to the realm of Flamecaller, where she found an abandoned forge. She decided to take up residence there for the night, but ended up staying there after she found her talent for gears, intricate machinery and other things that go. She stayed for several years in the forge, expanding her horizons from simple tinkering to full-blown inventing. After a while of living out of the forge, she had to move because the beastclans expanded their borders and encroached upon the territory Veloden had been occupying, and they definitely didn't want any dragon neighbors who could eat them. She moved to the Shifting Expanse, thinking that the land of Stormcatcher was the place to be as a tinkerer and inventor. After wandering the desert for several weeks, she was welcomed into the clan of Nova and Ereth.

Veloden is incredibly wary of anyone she meets, and is paranoid that anyone and everyone is a possible threat. Because of this, she is very shy, tends to stay away from other dragons and is also very possessive. Though, if dragons can prove that they are worthy of her trust, then she will let them pierce her shell and caress her fragile heart.
