Mangata

It was exhausting, hiking for days past the mountains and into the breezier, less foggy outskirts of the refuge. It was amazing how the landscape changed, sheer rocky cliffs and thick temperate jungle fanning out into a more pleasant, airier place. It was so... open. Sure, there was still sparse forest on either side with no horizon in sight, but at least there were no ferns rubbing the dew on you. Deep lakes spattered here and there, giving relief from the burning thirst in your throat and sun in the sky - you never expected to long for the damp of the Refuge, but this flatland of sparse poplar and pools gave you new insight. Just as you were about to give up, you spy a small cottage floating in the middle of an expansive, deep lake - the recipient of your letter.

The birds sing as you approach, soaring over the lilypad-freckled water. The door opened by a monkish pearlcatcher with a pidgeon in hand and a gentle look about him. He ushers you in and serves a delightful meal of boiled psyworm steak with greens and spiced apple tea. Its delightful, after days of dry, tough rations it wasn't short of magical - though he is back soon to refill your cup and lay your plate heavy with food once more. He gives a kind handshake and introduces himself as Mangata, and thanks you for the letter for it was incredibly important. Mangata says that you are free to stay or come visit for as long as you like, just mind the maren who live in the lakes -- they arent terribly fond of your sweaty scales or how often you floated in their pools.
