The Lorekeeper of Shadow

Pefero
Undara's assistant in crime and aid in trickery is a member of the Shadowbinder's entourage. Pefero is a sprite that does not so much fly as it does emerge from nearby pools of darkness.

B I O G R A P H Y

As with many of his breed, Undara possesses the innate tendency to mimic the habits and even voices of those around him. Those talents alone make him a valuable asset to the Pyreshivan Stronghold and a formidable enemy of Pentarax's foes.

And yet what truly brought him to Ravosk's attention was a talent unique even among Nocturnes. Undara has the strange ability to mimic both the fighting style and even the physical abilities of his opponents; allowing him to match much larger dragons in combat and feats of strength.

The small and otherwise frail looking Nocturne if faced with a larger opponent is able to call upon his reserves of magic and square off against a Ridgeback or even a Guardian in single combat. He has been asked every once in a while if he would be able to accomplish the same feat of power and strength against an Imperial. Usually in these situations his answer is to suddenly remember an urgent appointment elsewhere and vanish into the nearest shadow.

In addition to his combat skills, Undara also serves as the Pyreshivan Stronghold's lorekeeper of Shadow; managing several small rooms within the Alabaster Blade that contain musty-smelling scrolls and tomes brought with him from the Tangled Wood. The notion of a Shadow dragon living in a tower designed by a Light-aligned dragon has struck some as odd, but Undara is always happy to point out that the brighter the light, the darker the shadow.

B I O G R A P H Y

For the most part, Undara has enjoyed his life in the Stronghold. The location is unusual and quite different from the native land he frequently makes trips to, but he greatly enjoys playing tricks among, and teasing even the more feral and dangerous wildlife in the region.

Of the five Overseers, Undara is probably the closest to Raylah and Skaril, both of whom are prone to pranks and have a tendency to lord their intellect over others as well. If there has been one disappointment in the lair however it is that Undara does not get along with Jivalax in the least. Though the massive guardian is also a Shadow-aligned dragon, he seems to identify more with the 'darkness' aspect of it than the elements of trickery and guile. Undara has often remarked at times that Jivalax is more Shade than Shadow.

It is perhaps most unnerving that Jivalax has not disagreed with the assertion. Undara has brought this potential problem up with Pentarax before, but the lord of the Pyreshivan Stronghold has merely laughed quietly and assured Undara that while menacing and terrifying, Jivalax isn't nearly as strong as his father was and poses no real threat unless provoked.

Still, not every other shadow dragon in the lair is as worrisome a being as he. The bringer of bad luck Manfredini is a good friend, assistant forgemaster Anaku is at least polite, and another Nocturne from the Tangled Wood by the name of Mordzumel is quite possibly the only living being besides the Shadowbinder herself and Pefero that Undara could never bring himself to even attempt to trick or deceive.
