The thundering of hooves were everywhere. The repeated thuds echoed through the trees and up the mountain side as the large Elk stampeded through the wilderness.
From her perch between the big buck's racks, Artemis huffed softly. She curled a little on her side, suspended between each antler, her hair falling down, claws curling around the tufts of fur along the elk's strong neck.
All around her nature blossomed, flowers uncurling their delicate petals and trees beginning to breathe. And the animals stirred. Her mere presence always ignited some kind of energy in any place.
Anywhere with any wildlife burst awake at the smallest hint of Artemis.
"Bright day." Artemis sighed, now looking up into the bright blue sky.
The Elk said nothing, but that was to be expected. He was just an elk.
Suddenly a whistle of cutting wind screamed by her ear, making her jump nearly out of her skin. There came the baying of hounds and barrel chested laughter of male dragons. They were hunting her Elk.

Artemis leapt from her perch between the antlers to the back, where she sat - seemingly calm - staring at the hunters behind them.
They were a great distance away but Artemis could still see they were a pair of male Nocturnes. Great. Not that she needed that this morning.
She stood, leaning delicately on her heels to keep balance while not causing harm to her pet. Quickly as she could, she snapped her hand back then forward again, now holding an arrow in her small but delicate hand, as the other now gripped her bow.
She took aim with a small smile on her face.
She was known as the Huntress. The Goddess of Animals, Women and the hunt... Never did they say what she hunted.
That secret was something just between her, her Elk and the hunted.
She let the arrow go, relishing in the whisper of the bow as it flung it forward.

Right into the heart of her mark.
