DEVIN The Archer Mate of Sayre Familiar  DESCRIPTION Bright and very observant, what Devin really lacks is self confidence. He second guesses himself all the time, often to his detriment. However, Gahru regularly notes that he often pays closer attention to little things than anyone else, including Kared. He is very attached to Sayre, and respects both Kared and Aven to the point of near hero worship. Gahru actually frightens him even if he will never admit it out loud. Lagoon, was a gift from Ash on his the anniversary of his arrival to the clan. Flit had happily explained that while very shy, the familiar just wanted to do her best, and that Ash felt they would be good companions for each other. Devin soon learned that she was invaluable when he was training because she could always find his arrows. |

Unlike Sayre, who was too little to remember the small group that kept them after the Night of the Nocturne, Devin was just old enough that he understood it better. He was the one that stayed in front of the younger girl, back arched trying to keep her safe. He watched as Kared and Aven swept in and got rid of the ones that took such poor care of them. Although weak from hunger, he still remembers weakly hissing at the two, trying to keep his little friend safe.
Despite his admiration of the two, Devin's talent was in archery, a skill that few practice in the clan. His observant nature helps him greatly to spot a target or to find the perfect angle. He spent hours training, on his own and with the occasional bit of help from his two mentors, never forgetting the tiny Spiral that he protected on his own for so long. He works hard so that he can continue to protect her, always. He loves asking questions, mostly to Shenan and Drennis, but occasionally to Gahru, who while wiser, is often crankier and snappish. While most born into the Water Flight have a kinship with their element, Devin does not. He spent no time deep in the water, and attuning himself to the energy as all littlings do. Instead, he is attuned to his mate, knowing her moods and feelings as easily as if they were his own. However he can be very stubborn, and kept a disagreement going with Aven for almost a full week, because he was convinced that the older dragon was wrong. |
