Eli was found stuck up a tree, surrounded by a group of Kamaitachi, by Vergil and the other clan defenders. After he was rescued, he demanded to be allowed to join the clan to repay them for what they had done for him. As Mochi has a policy of taking in anyone who seeks asylum, there was little resistance to allowing him to join them. Since, he has tried on numerous occasions to assist in battles with encroaching Beastclans, but his battle prowess leaves much to be desired.

Vergil took him under his wings, and has been trying to teach him how to fight. His tutelage as helped alleviate some of the headache that he causes by rushing in over his head. Eli appreciates Vergil's efforts, and has since fallen for him quite hard. To outsiders, this relationship may seem very one-sided, but Vergil cares about Eli very much, and only wishes that he'd try thinking more often than he tries fighting.
