The Sable Glen
Peaceful - Resourceful - Stalwart
As you walk through the Viridian Labyrinth, your eyes fall on a carved wooden shield, the surface etched with a rose that has been stained red, siting over a painted field of branches and leaves. It is the third such shield you've seen in a short time. You realize you've found the marked grounds of a clan, and just as you do, a scarred and battered Imperial in an imposing set of armor emerges from the forest nearby. He regards you cautiously for a moment, and after deeming you not to be a threat, he speaks.
"Welcome to the Sable Glen," he rumbles, gesturing with his nose to the massive tree nestled just beyond the markers. "Nimitti will want to see you. She greets all the guests. But don't cause any trouble, or you'll be dealing with me." With that, he continues on his patrol, careful not to bump or damage the markers as he vanishes into the trees once again, his footsteps slowly fading. As you make your way into the clan commons, decorated with tents and stalls and long tables full of food, you're accosted by a lemon-coloured fae who is quick to invite you to rest and eat your fill if you are hungry. She is followed closely by two others -- a coatl and a tundra -- who echo her sentiment and encourage you to stay as long as you like. |

The grounds of the Sable Glen sit in the shade of a massive tree deep in the Viridian Labyrinth. While their tree is a mere sprout compared to the Gladekeeper's great Behemoth, it is still a sight to behold. Led by a wandering coatl from the deep frozen south, birthed by a fae, and guarded by a massive guardian charged with protecting the tree itself, they are a motley, friendly bunch. Their ranks consist of misfits, fallen leaders, and mysterious strangers. Over time, it has become a refuge for those who no longer have a home to call their own. Generally quite peaceful, the inhabitants take up arms only when provoked, and welcome outsiders to stay as long as they like. Unless, of course, they decide to cause trouble, which will lead to a smack on the head with a good, strong staff or a quick trip back over the border courtesy of the clan defenders. Nevertheless, food is plentiful and all are welcome to spend the day perusing the various wares the clan produces and sells. |
