PERSONALITY:
Rike is in constant pain, and that makes him grouchy and unpleasant. The Icewarden's shackles that he's been cursed with eternally work to freeze him solid, and he constantly uses his fire magic to fight it. As a result, there's very little he's willing to expend his limited magic on. Rather, he boasts great physical strength which he uses to benefit his mate. Or whoever is paying him if Richter doesn't have anything planned for him.

He's on the lazy side by nature, but forces himself to be active to distract from the never ending cycle of freeze and thaw. This also makes him grumpy.

HISTORY:
Rike's birth clan was just another metallurgist's colony in the Blacksand Annex. They were good enough to make a living on, but not the best and certainly not wealthy. They specialized in parts, usually commissioned by workers under the Stormcatcher's employ. It was interesting work that required more finesse than most expected from smiths, and Rike enjoyed it.

He was on vacation, visiting an old friend down in the Southern Icefields. It was colder than anything Rike had ever experienced, like his claws were going to fall right off. On his way back to the northern shore, where he could catch a wind ferry back to the mainland, he chose a cave to spend the night in. As he'd done many a time before, he set a fire inside to keep himself warm and unwittingly thawed one of the Icewarden's specimens. It scurried off into the night, having been preserved in ice for centuries now free to rediscover the world.

As punishment for losing a piece of the god's collection, Rike was struck with a chilling curse. Though he had left the Southern Icefield, it would cling to him forever.

Unwilling to go home in his cursed state, Rike headed east towards the Stormcatcher's domain. Lightning was known as a brother to Fire, both elements sides of the same coin. Besides, wouldn't it be interesting to see what the dragons there had made out of Rike's clan's parts?

He met Richter out in the desert. She was fascinated by Rike's condition, and proved herself a witty and admirable friend. With nothing better to do, Rike followed her to Clan Stormbay.

CURRENT PLOTS:
Rike is very loyal to Richter. He sees her goals as his goals, and strives for them albeit less proactively. Really, he does what she says and if she doesn't have work for him then he hires himself out as labor. Sometimes he hangs around Aphrodite's forge. He needs a hobby, probably.

Frequent sparring partner with Hong. She's sort of annoying, but Rike's gotten good at tuning her out.
