The cold should have killed him. The snow and ice that wrapped around his egg should have ended his life before it had even started. Against all odds, Jadevine burst from his egg and tumbled out onto the cold earth. He was far from home, far from the Arcane lands. He knew this before he even opened his eyes to take a gander at where he was. It was that time of year. The time of year where strange things happened. The Nocturnes were waking up and making their way through the snow covered lands. Such a holiday was seen as a blessing from some and a curse from others. For Jadevine, he wasn't sure which one it was. He was alive, somehow, but he wouldn't be for long. Not in this cold. The edge of this desert had snow on it, leading away from another bit of land that was covered in the night's darkness. Jadevine had hatched from the snow-bitten egg looking towards the desert, so his small hatchling mind told him to go into the desert.

He dragged himself along the ground, further and further away from the snow. The cold was slowing him down. His body was becoming weaker due to hunger and thirst. His parents… where had they gone? Had they been traveling with his egg and had lost it? Or did they toss him aside in favor of someone else? Was that why he was half-frozen? He had no answers for his questions, but he knew he could follow the stars. He had an innate ability to do so. The further he walked, however, the farther away the power seemed. The stars were beginning to blur. He could still make them out, but not as well as he could before. Something else was happening to him. Something was clinging to his body the further he wandered alone into the desert. He felt something burning his stomach, but it was far too late for him to care. The lone hatchling curled up on the ground and fell asleep. The burnings had turned to be more pleasant than they were painful. The warmth now radiating from him lulled him deep into his dreams.

Upon waking up, Jadevine was welcomed by the storms. They hadn't stopped at all. He knew it was day, given that there was some sort of golden-gray light that had filtered through the thinner parts of the storm clouds. There was no rain, however. It was only lighting. He had the sudden urge to hide from the storm, but the urge soon disappeared. He didn't feel afraid like a normal non-Lightning hatchling would. He felt comfortable with the storms roaring above his head. He had more important things to worry about anyway. Like food. He began to wander the desert, eating what little he could find. Eventually, he found his way to the edge of the sea. Figuring he had no other choice, Jadevine jumped into the freezing winter waters.

Some would say Jadevine was blessed after this. He never really saw it that way. Blessed would have been not being abandoned and almost freezing to death. Blessed would be not having these strange blue marks trailing down his stomach. But perhaps he was blessed because he was good at using the element of Lightning compared to his birth element of Arcane. Jadevine would admit he was lucky. His good attitude and quick battle style had earned him a reputation among some clans. He was a dragon that shouldn't be attacked, but he was good-natured most of the time. Happy, excited, but knowing just when to draw all that back. He was eventually caught up to by a clan that was interested for him to join. It seemed odd to Jadevine. He had no idea what he was going to be doing, but he figured free food and a place to live would be beneficial. The water wasn't that bad anyway, once he got used to it. He was pretty good at swimming.

Upon entering the clan, his heart had stopped and then fluttered straight out of his chest. A beautiful dragon was there to meet him. She was surrounded by cats in one of the only dry places in the clan and her beauty had struck Jadevine mute. It wasn't long before the two hit it off and became official mates. Despite his mate's crazy love of cats, Jadevine couldn't help but feel truly lucky at this point. Against all odds he had survived and found his way to her. Oh, if only he had known she existed before! He would have spent eternity looking for his soul mate. Love at first sight is a silly thing to think about to him, but he had to admit he was struck by his mate's beauty. It just so happened that their love went deeper than the skin. A clan where he is fed, and a beautiful mate that loves his back? Well, life seems pretty good now, no?
