"I'm not that special." ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ Gwyneira was, from the very beginning, like her father Rairye. Noble, generous, and full of life, she was quick to be a role model amongst the other young and was always at the front of whatever silly games they played. She had a knack for leading that the others lacked, but that was always pinned as being hereditary: the daughter of one of the highest ranking dragons in the clan was likely to be the same. The first time she was shown to be different was when she was a fortnight old. Gwyn had always enjoyed wandering the outdoors, always loved seeing life outside of the clans territory. Her first encounter with her perplexing talents was on the outskirts of her clans territory, by a frozen river that looked black as pitch beneath the snow. With a careful paw, Gwyn padded onto the ice lake, claw marks leaving behind her trail. The ice was a nipping cold on the soft pads of her feet, but she was an Ice dragon. She was unbothered by it. What did stop her was the sudden appearance of a shrub growing just ahead of her. As pure white as her own scales, the tree grew at a rapid rate. It was pure ice, a sapling of frost. At it's full height, the tree began to groan and shudder. Fissures appeared along the smooth bark of its trunk, ice cracking as if from a great force. It leaned towards the cowering Gwyn, great boughs aching to be closer to her, as if to relieve its strees just by a simple touch of her feathers. It stretched closer, to impossible lengths, until it gave out beneath itself. The tree shattered, shards flying at Gwyn as if wanting to be a part of her. They cut at her flank, the glass-like remains too sharp to ward off. She was bleeding, a thick stream of it, right onto the frozen river. Her white hide was stained red, and her blood became something else entirely. Something living. Untamed even by Gwyn, it became a weapon of destruction, capable of solidifying into something more dangerous than claws and fangs ever could be. Her blood had become tangible, malleable, and a terrible secret. |
