Biography

Ametrine

_______________________________

What it came down to was suspicion.

In a clan of misty-eyed dreamers and idealists, Ametrine was something dark and unknown. It wasn't, necessarily, that she shrunk away from any seemingly kind contact or poured hours into reading books on strange and dangerous subjects.

Though of course, that came after.

Instead it was her deep, flashy wings and glittering cold eyes. She had a clear cut way of speaking, like she knew the soul of the others she spoke to. Her scales were an iridescent glinting purple, but under the right light, they seemed blood red.

And naturally, when it all went sideways, the clan looked for someone to blame.

Strange creaks at night. A hatchling falling sick. A freak snowstorm blotting out the sun for days. Narrowed eyes, clouded with distrust. Whispers of powers drawn from unholy sources.

A self-fulfilling prophecy, indeed.

And with the world already telling her she was a monster, well, how much worse could it be?

It wasn't that hard, honestly. A couple trips to the more questionable side of the market, a few hard questions, firm glares and threats. And she acquired and old, dusty book. The front, written in a long dead language no one ever knew, and the diagrams inside detailed and meticulous. So she turned away from the scorning and suspicious glares and started to learn.

There's a certain confidence and peace to power.

Eerie hollows from empty woods at daybreak. Disappearing weapons and supplies. A feral grin. Deadly plants woven into a crown. Suspicion, now turned into an uneasiness that permeated thoughts and dreams.
